Backblaze speed test7/24/2023 Backblaze has a totally free feature available to all customers in all accounts we call “Backblaze Groups”, which allows any Backblaze customer to pay for a “group” of other Backblaze customers. And they don’t want to re-enter a credit card for each laptop inside their organization. Large businesses have a very specific set of problems around payment - they want to pay one yearly bill for hundreds or thousands of backups in their organization. It is what naive new business customers search for. Our marketing department insists on naming a FREE feature we have as “Backblaze for Business” for search engine reasons. The confusion is our fault, and I hate this. The pricing and performance won’t change with how you identify yourself. Backblaze has different products you can buy, but we profoundly don’t care whether you self identify as a “business” or “church” or “family” or “individual”. There are no other programs running on my computer and we've even tried turning off all other computers in the houseĪre you using their Personal Plan or Business Plan?įor the record, Backblaze does not have a “personal” or “business” plan. IMac with 3.3 GHz i5 processor, 32 Gb of RAM ISP is Cox in Southern Arizona, we have their "ultimate" plan = 300/30 and unlimited data ![]() Didn't even give me any troubleshooting steps or questions to ask Cox, so not at all helpful.Īny advice? They say they don't throttle, but if their speed test contradicts every other speed test I've done, it really indicates that the problem is specific to back blaze. Contacted back blaze support and they basically told me "it's probably something with your ISP, not our problem". I've tried everthing, automatic throttle, manual throttle, one thread, multiple threads, but it doesn't get any faster. And the Backblaze app itself is giving me a "Last file transfer speed" of <2 Mbps. I have run multiple different speed tests and they're all giving me 20-30 Mbps upload speeds, yet when I run the Backblaze speed test it is giving me 6-7 Mbps. ![]() I've been trying for several months to complete my initial backup and it is just going at a crawl.
